It took over six months, a half a million words pared down to 64 000 words, and a lot of blood, sweat, tears and sleepless night to get this one to the point of publishing. I agonized at times about how to word this tome as truthfully and diplomatically as I could. Time will tell if I’ve succeeded!
Education: Through My Mother’s Eyes has morphed along the way to become Education 1940-2020: Are We in a Crisis? My editor submitted it to Amazon today for publishing and by October 1st, it should be universally available across all of their platforms.
Nothing like the first hard copy. Wow! That was hard work. I was asked to write it and I did. First thought by teachers and parents will be: “Just an old guy who has lost touch!” I don’t care though because I wrote it for children. People in high towers often forget whose lives are at stake in education. There is only one task and one goal and we need to remember this fact in all things. Nothing else matters.
When I was asked to write “Education…Through My Mother’s Eyes”, I hesitated but said yes. I was not swayed by any extremists nor did I pad anything. Virtually every word was written carefully while making sure only the facts were presented. It was a huge job pulling the truths out of a world where it seems many people want to bury their heads in the sand or lash out in anger at anyone who disagrees with them. We live in a polarized country in foggy times. Every word was chosen carefully and I had absolutely no mercy on the culprits who tend to bury the rest of the story in a land of make-believe. It is the only book I have written so far that I would say is going to raise some hackles while at the same time bring on some Hallelujah Amens. I hope so but readers still need to understand that it was created in the calmest and most pleasant way possible. My heart was most certainly in the right place and my potential heroes and benefactors are all children. If any adult thinks it is about them they will be sadly disappointed. It will be released in the fall.
